English Evaluation for International Students
Purpose:
The English Proficiency Assessment is a culminating activity designed to assess the English language proficiency of international students before their arrival in Canada. This evaluation ensures that students have the necessary skills in reading, writing, listening, and speaking to succeed in their studies, adapt to Canadian culture, and navigate daily life effectively.

Course placement based on the results:
0 – 49% – ESLAO
50-59% – ESLBO
60-69% – ESLCO
70-79% – ESLDO
80-100% – ENG3U (at the discretion of the principal)
Quiz Type: Graded Quiz
Points: 100 is the total number of questions in the test, each question will be worth 1 point. Your grade will be converted into a percentage based on what you score out of 100.
Time Limit: 240 Minutes (4 hours).
Multiple Attempts: No, you have one attempt.
Grammar
The Quiz assesses your grammar and English comprehension.
Reading, Editing and Responding
The Quiz assesses your reading and writing comprehension.
Listening and Responding
You will listen to a voice audio clip and then answer a series of three questions associated to the audio clip (multiple choice).
